Heraklion to Lino Cambi.

About an hour and a quarter from Heraklion airport, on the south coast above the Libyan Sea — and roughly an hour from the new Kasteli airport once it opens. You will not drive it. We meet you at the airport and bring you in, over the spine of the island to the sea. The last road is part of the arrival; we would not let you miss it by watching a map.

The airports.

Heraklion International Airport (HER) is the main gateway to Crete. Direct flights connect it with most European capitals from April through October, and with Athens year-round. From HER to Lino Cambi is about an hour and a quarter — and the new Kasteli airport, when it opens, will be a touch closer, around an hour.

Chania Airport (CHQ), at the western end of the island, is the alternative — the drive is longer, a little over two hours, and the flight options are fewer. Either way, you are met and driven: you choose the flight, we handle the road.

The journey south.

From Heraklion the road leaves the north coast and climbs the spine of the island — olive groves, then cypress, then the high country where the air turns cold and shepherds still keep their flocks. Then it falls toward the Libyan Sea, and the light changes.

Lino Cambi sits near the village of Agios Georgios, on the cliffs between Agia Galini and Melampes. The last stretch is narrow and white and slow, dropping suddenly to the edge — the kind of arrival that does some of our work for us, before we have said a word. You will be in the passenger seat for all of it, which is the only way to watch a coast like this one.

Practical notes.

  • You are met and driven — a private car and driver, from Heraklion, Kasteli, or Chania, is part of your stay. Send us your flight in your inquiry and we take it from there.
  • If you would rather drive yourself — you can, and it is simple: a rental car from the airport you land into. These are mountain roads, so book an automatic ahead if you are not at home on a manual, and drive them in daylight.
  • Arriving after dark — if your flight lands late, we will suggest a night near the airport and bring you down in the morning light. This coast is worth seeing.

Arrival.

Tell us your flight number in the inquiry. We will be ready for you. There is no formal check-in. There is a long table, a glass of something cold, and a few hours to find your feet.
